Malaiya Ilene Liwag, BA, CTP

Malaiya Ilene is in her final year of graduate studies at Concordia University Irvine where she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is dedicated to providing an all-inclusive, safe space for clients to explore and express themselves freely. She is trained in working with traumas, depression, anxiety, attachment, boundaries, group processes, and career counseling with a special interest in couples and relational traumas.

Her therapeutic approaches include person-centered, narrative, and mindfulness therapies. Through a collaborative effort between client and counselor, she explores difficulties and struggles in one’s life through the character structure lens of attachment, separation, integration, and adulthood. She strives to help clients gain the necessary tools toward greater self-awareness, understanding, and overall healing.

Malaiya Ilene obtained a Bachelor’s in Dance from the University of California, San Diego where she incorporated healing through somatic based practices. She has a strong passion in guiding and helping individuals reach a healthy well-being as well as their own self-development and healing goals. She is a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) and has experience in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Expressive Arts Therapy to provide resources to meet the needs of each individual, unique client.

In addition to her studies, Malaiya Ilene has vast experience in teaching and working with individuals ranging from early adolescence to late adulthood years. She understands the difficulties and challenges that personal growth and healing may bring. Her goal is to provide a space where clients feel welcome, safe, seen, and heard. She hopes to support their journey toward a happier and more fulfilling life.

She believes that counseling is not a one-size-fits-all approach and that because each journey is unique, one’s healing process will be too
