Malaiya Ilene Liwag, BA, CTP

Malaiya Ilene is in her final year of graduate studies at Concordia University Irvine where she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is dedicated to providing an all-inclusive, safe space for clients to explore and express themselves freely. She hopes to support their journey toward a happier and more fulfilling life. She is trained in working with traumas, depression, anxiety, attachment, and life transitions with a special interest in couples and relational traumas. Her therapeutic approaches include person-centered, narrative, and mindfulness therapies. Through a collaborative effort between client and counselor, she strives to help clients gain the necessary tools toward greater self-awareness, understanding, and overall healing.

She is a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) and has experience in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Expressive Arts Therapy to provide resources to meet the needs of each individual, unique client. She understands the difficulties and challenges that personal growth and healing may bring. She believes that counseling is not a one-size-fits-all approach and that because each journey is unique, one’s healing process will be too.
